On this week's episode we speak with Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester.
Kathy Lester was raised in Rancho Cordova and enlisted in the Army after High School. She attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA where she became fluent in Russian, and served as a crypto logical linguist. Additionally, she was cross trained as a combat medic and range master. Kathy served both stateside and in Korea and Japan while she was attached to the 373rd and 368th Military Intelligence Battalions.
She was awarded the Combat Lifesaving Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
She joined the Sacramento Police Department in 1994 as a dispatcher, became a community service officer and was sworn in as a police officer in 1996. During her long career with Sac PD she has worked in almost every Department and today she is the first woman to hold Chief of Police position.
During our conversation, we really got to know Kathy Lester and we discussed all things policing in the City of Sacramento.
